Susan J. Reynolds is the Executive Director-Programs for the Progressive Agriculture Foundation, a non-profit foundation that manages and funds the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day ™ program. This award winning program provides training, resources, and support to help local communities conduct safety and health education events for children, throughout the U.S., Canada, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since its inception by The Progressive Farmer Magazine in 1995, it has reached more than a half-million children.
Educated as a food scientist and journalist, Ms. Reynolds worked from 1977 to 1992 as a state food specialist with the Alabama and Georgia Cooperative Extension Services. In each state, she served as a program coordinator and resource specialist for county extension agents. She is the author of So Easy to Preserve that was subsequently an eight-week public television series. Ms. Reynolds served as associate producer, writer, and host of the series.
In 1992, Ms. Reynolds joined Southern Progress Corporation as Food Editor for Southern Living Magazine. She also served as Director of Marketing Support for Southern Living Magazine’s work with the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She has won Distinguished Service Awards from the Georgia Association of Extension Home Economists, the Tennessee Technological University Home Economics Alumni Chapter, and the Kentucky Rural Safety and Health Council.
